Nina Bruun Design Studio was asked to take part in the annual Milan exhibition Re-Made established by the interior and lifestyle magazine Wallpaper*, an evolution of their previous project Wallpaper* Handmade. As a flagship event for Fuorisalone, Re-Made is an ideas lab intent on tackling fundamental problems: fixing our broken relationship with things we buy and use.
At Nina Bruun Design Studio, we were paired with the Danish lighting company Astep and Dutch biotech firm Grown. Grown manufactures mycelium, a mushroom-based biodegradable material and the task was to design a packaging from mycelium to Astep’s lighting, making the packaging sustainable to the point where it could be recycled in its entirety.
Wallpaper* is a publication focusing on design and architecture, fashion, travel, art, and lifestyle. The magazine was launched in London in 1996 by Canadian journalist Tyler Brûlé and Austrian journalist Alexander Geringer. Brûlé sold the magazine to Time Warner in 1997.
